sagardía was born in asuncion, paraguay. since 1983 he lives in germany. he studied composition with adriana hoelszky, nicolaus a. huber and günter steinke as well as electronical composition with dirk reith; he also took part at the workshop "extending composition" which was led by hans-joachim hespos. since 2007 he lives and works as a freelancer composer and screenwriter in berlin. in recent years his music and screenplays have led him to cooperations with ensembles and musicians as follows: ensemble KALEIDOSKOP, ensemble GELBER KLANG, network ensemble TESTKLANG, the HELIOS quartet, wolfgang zamastil, elmar schrammel, marc tritschler, scott roller, gordon kampe, manuel nawri, maximilian marcoll, und felix dreher (sound director) as well as with artists from the field of film and graphics: sandrina andic (filmmaker), mestiz (digital media designer), sebastian cremers (designer), piero glina (designer). sagardía recieved a scholarship by the international ENSEMBLE MODERN ACADEMY (one year scholarship) in 2005/2006. in summer 2007 he followed an invitation by the VILLA AURORA LOS ANGELES for a three months stay (scholarship) in the usa. in summer 2008 he was guest at the artists residency of SCHREYAHN, germany. in 2011 sagardía is invited to stay at the cité internationale des arts in paris. sagardía is member of the bands LAB OF THE HALO, DIKTATOR OHNE LAND, DAS HAUSSTUDIO and the ensemble TESTKLANG.

award by the goethe institute st. petersburg for the screenplay “schwarze ähre” (“a black ear of spike”), within the short film competition “all human biengs are free and equal…”, co-financed by the fund “erinnerung und zukunft”. the award includes a financial support for the film budget.



05/06 reciept of a one year scholarship by the international ensemble modern academy (IEMA) frankfurt/main, co-financed by the „kunststiftung NRW“



2005 sponsor award by the „friends and sponsors of the folkwang hochschule“

2002 participation at „altstadt herbstfestival düsseldorf 2002“ with the formation „offenes forum für hardcore“ with the project „public speeches“. in cooparation with the ICEM of the folkwang-hochschule essen



1999 participation at „münchener biennale 1999“ with the chamber opera „der parzival“, a cooparation between the following composers: holger klaus, wang fei, gerhardt veser, benjamin lang and carsten henning, under the teaching of adriana hölszky. world premiere at “theater löbershof” in cooparation with the director christian marten-molnár and the librettist simon werle.



1999 participation at „riech-kolloquium“ in rostock 1999, organised by the „wiese gmbh“ with hans-joachim hespos, jürgen engels and other artists and scientists of different disciplines to give lectures on the subject “smelling”. world premiere of “equatí” written for voice and clarinet.
